DOG OF THE WEEK

Tail O' the Pup

Probably the most photographed hot dog stand in the world

Tail O' the Pup is an iconic Los Angeles, California hot dog stand actually shaped like a hot dog. Designed in 1938 and built in 1945. It first opened at its original Beverly Boulevard location in 1946. It is one of the very few surviving mid-20th century buildings that were built in the shapes of the products they sold. The Tail O’ the Pup has appearances in many many movies and commercials over the years

Tail O' the Pup is currently closed when in early 2006 the owner of the property refused to renew the famous hot dog stand's lease. The City of Los Angeles has since declared Tail O' the Pup to be a cultural landmark. Rumor has it that the Tail O’ the Pup is hoping to re-open in Westwood Village near UCLA. If your in the LA area check around and find there new location, because this will be a must see and eat place. Be sure and say hi to Dennis & Maria Elena Blake the owners.
